In the past, students had lessons in the morning only. They usually walked or cycled to school because there were few motorbikes or cars. Classrooms were simple, with wooden desks, a blackboard and chalk instead of modern equipment. Teachers wrote everything by hand, and pupils copied the lessons into their notebooks. There were no computers, projectors or smartphones, so students learned mainly from printed textbooks. During break time, children played traditional games such as hide-and-seek or skipping rope in the schoolyard. Although life was harder and facilities were poor, students were hard-working and respected their teachers very much. Many people still remember those simple school days with great happiness and fondness.
