Bài 5 (trang 26) — Speaking: City problems & solutions

> A: I agree. Another problem is *traffic congestion*. The streets get crowded during rush hours.

> B: That's right. And because the city is *overpopulated*, there isn't enough housing for everyone.

> A: So what can we do to solve these problems?

> B: To reduce pollution and traffic jams, the city can *build more public transport* such as buses and metro lines. People should be encouraged to use them instead of motorbikes.

> A: Good idea. The city can also *plant more trees* and *create more green parks* to make the air cleaner.

> B: And to deal with overpopulation, the government can *develop new urban areas* in the suburbs.

> A: By doing so, our city will become a more liveable place.

b) Báo cáo trước lớp (Now report your discussion) — dùng đúng các cấu trúc cho sẵn

> There are several problems in our city. First, air pollution is becoming more and more serious because there are too many vehicles on the streets. Second, traffic congestion often happens during rush hours, and the city is also overpopulated, so there isn't enough housing for everyone.

> To solve these problems, the city can build a better public transport system, such as more buses and metro lines, so that fewer people use personal motorbikes. Another solution is to plant more trees and build more parks to make the air cleaner and fresher. The government can also develop new residential areas in the suburbs to reduce the population in the city centre.
>
> By doing so, the city can be a more liveable place for everyone.

Lưu ý trình bày (theo SGK lớp 9):
- Dùng từ nối liệt kê First, Second, và cụm giải pháp To solve…, Another solution is… đúng như khung cho sẵn.
- Nêu vấn đề (problem) → nguyên nhân (because…) → giải pháp (can + V / should + V).
- Kết bài bằng câu By doing so, the city can be a more liveable place.
