Ton That Tung – A Great Vietnamese Surgeon

Ton That Tung was a brilliant Vietnamese surgeon who became famous for his new method of liver surgery. He was born in 1912 in Thanh Hoa Province.

In 1931, he moved to Ha Noi and studied at Chu Van An High School. From 1935 to 1939, he continued his studies at the Indochina School of Medicine and Pharmacy, where he began to show his great talent and passion for medicine.

After graduating, he devoted his whole life to medicine. He carried out a lot of research on the human liver and developed a quick and effective method of liver surgery, which later became known around the world as "Ton That Tung's method". Thanks to his dedication and discoveries, he made an important contribution to medical science both in Viet Nam and abroad.

Ton That Tung died in 1982 in Ha Noi, at the age of 70. He is still remembered today as one of the greatest Vietnamese surgeons.
