Gợi ý trả lời

Work in groups. Discuss the following question.

*What are some other effects of globalisation on cultural diversity? Give some examples in the context of Viet Nam.*

Đây là câu hỏi thảo luận mở (speaking/discussion), không có một đáp án duy nhất. Dưới đây là bài nói mẫu, trình bày thành từng ý theo đúng chủ điểm Unit 2 (globalisation & cultural diversity):

a) Positive effects – Những ảnh hưởng tích cực

- *Cultural exchange and enrichment (Giao lưu, làm giàu văn hoá):* Globalisation helps different cultures interact, so people can enjoy foods, music, films and festivals from all over the world.
- *Example in Viet Nam:* Young Vietnamese people now enjoy Korean pop music (K-pop), Western fast food like pizza and hamburgers, and celebrate international events such as Christmas and Halloween alongside traditional Tet.

- *Promoting Vietnamese culture to the world (Quảng bá văn hoá Việt ra thế giới):* Thanks to the Internet and tourism, Vietnamese culture becomes better known globally.
- *Example:* Ao dai, pho, banh mi and festivals such as the Hue Festival now attract many foreign tourists; Vietnamese dishes appear on menus in many countries.

- *Access to knowledge and foreign languages (Tiếp cận tri thức và ngoại ngữ):* English and other languages are learnt more widely, helping young people study and work in a multicultural environment.

b) Negative effects – Những ảnh hưởng tiêu cực

- *Loss of traditional cultural identity (Mai một bản sắc văn hoá truyền thống):* When foreign cultures become too popular, some traditional customs may be forgotten.
- *Example in Viet Nam:* Some young people prefer modern pop songs to traditional folk music such as *quan ho* or *ca tru*; a number of traditional craft villages are shrinking.

- *Cultural homogenisation (Đồng hoá văn hoá):* Lifestyles, fashion and tastes become more and more similar everywhere, which can reduce cultural diversity.
- *Example:* International brands, coffee chains and fashion styles look the same in Ha Noi, Tokyo or Paris.

- *Change in traditional values and behaviour (Thay đổi giá trị, lối sống truyền thống):* Family ties and traditional manners may weaken as a more individualistic, Western lifestyle spreads.

c) Conclusion – Kết luận

Globalisation has both good and bad effects on cultural diversity. In Viet Nam, it brings opportunities for cultural exchange and development, but it may also threaten our cultural identity. Therefore, we should take in the good values of other cultures while still preserving and promoting our own traditional culture (*hoà nhập nhưng không hoà tan*).
